Over 13,000 runners came together in Putrajaya for a powerful celebration of resilience, endurance, and the spirit of community
Garmin Run Asia Series 2025 concluded successfully with over 13,000 passionate runners taking over Dataran Putrajaya, in one of Malaysia’s most anticipated running events. Now in its fourth consecutive year, the race once again embodied its signature theme, ‘From Zero to Hero’, empowering runners to push their limits, celebrate their progress, and take charge of their health and fitness journeys.
Following its record-breaking year in 2024, which saw nearly 100,000 runners across nine Asian regions, Garmin Run Asia Series expanded even further this year to ten destinations including Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore, Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, Hong Kong, and Japan. Uniting a growing community of runners across Asia under one shared goal: to move with purpose.
“Garmin Run Asia Series has become more than just a race, it’s a celebration of growth, every runner’s determination to take charge of their health and strengthening the local running community. Every year, we witness inspiring stories of runners who overcome challenges and redefine what’s possible for themselves. It is wonderful to witness the community stand together to help one another reach the finish line. The race began at sunrise with a high-energy warm-up session led by this year’s official gym partner, Fitness First, before runners took to the streets of Putrajaya to conquer their chosen categories. The race village buzzed with excitement throughout the morning, featuring engaging activations by sponsors, recovery zones, and wellness experiences that kept the celebration alive long after runners crossed the finish line.
Among the thousands of participants, the race also drew the presence of several elite local runners, including two-time SEA Games medalist Muhaizar Mohamad and Yeow Ni Jia, who will be representing Malaysia at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand this December. Their participation brought an inspiring competitive spirit to the event, motivating fellow runners and showcasing the determination and passion that define the Garmin Run.
At the end of the run, top-performing runners were awarded prizes from official partners and sponsors worth over RM192,000 cash and kind including Garmin running series watches, aminoVITAL® products, Shokz audio gear and many more. Participants also enjoyed lucky draws and interactive experiences at the Garmin Run village.
This year also saw Garmin’s own athlete community shine bright, as several of them claimed top spots across categories. One star athlete, Ni Jia who went from third place in 2024 to champion in the 21KM Men’s Open category, shared, “I am satisfied with my performance today at Garmin Run Asia Series 2025, hitting my local personal best. Year after year, the exciting atmosphere from the run and running alongside thousands of participants really motivated me to go further”.

This year also marked a milestone for the Garmin Run Malaysia through its own community, the Garmin Run Club Malaysia which has grown beyond the Klang Valley to reach runners in other states, including Johor, Penang, and Ipoh. In line with Garmin’s commitment to nurturing the local running scene, the brand partnered with regional run communities such as Route Kuching Crew in Johor Bahru, Penang City Running Runners (PCRR) in Penang and Bagi Run Club in Ipoh to host weekly training sessions leading up to Garmin Run Malaysia. This nationwide community expansion reflects Garmin’s continued effort to strengthen its running presence and foster a more connected community of runners across Malaysia.
